Dr. Berndtson is a graduate of Rush Medical College. He has practiced in Chicagoland for over 28 years and has clinical and administrative experience in both conventional and alternative medical settings. He has served as a clinical instructor for students at local medical and health professional schools.
He is certified by the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine and specializes in the evaluation and management of symptoms that persist despite usual medical care. He has undergone additional training to help patients address Lyme disease and other tick-borne infections. He is the author of a widely read peer-reviewed article, Review of evidence for immune evasion and persistent infection in Lyme disease. He is certified by Ritchie Shoemaker, MD to help genetically susceptible patients address the chronic inflammatory response syndrome caused by mold toxins found in water-damaged buildings.

Dr. Karpen is a board-certified chiropractic physician and graduate of Cleveland Chiropractic College. His patient care philosophy emphasizes education and healthy lifestyle change. As a former athlete, he knows the importance of self-care routines that support physical stamina, strength, flexibility, and agility.
Christina Guthrie, L. Ac. Dipl. OM, MSTOM
Acupuncture and TCM Director
Christina is a licensed acupuncturist who graduated from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine with a Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine (TCM). She is NCCAOM board certified in Chinese herbology and acupuncture. Christina completed a four-year academic program studying acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Eastern nutrition, and Western biomedicine. She has experience treating a variety of health ailments ranging from musculoskeletal disorders, pain management, gastrointestinal disorders, weight management, psychological disorders, and women’s health concerns. Using Chinese Medicine as a foundation for treatment, she stresses the importance of diet, exercise, and emotional well being to achieve health and balance.
